Need Gum Gone? Chewing gum removal is a very sticky business, whether it’s stuck on your concrete, parking lot or on the side of a building, gum eventually transforms into a black smudge on your concrete. But usually before that happens, pedestrians and clients walking into a store or office will walk on it and get it in all over the carpets, rugs and entryway mats. Then it is embedded deep into the carpet fibers and into the porous surface of concrete, just waiting for someone to step in it again, to track it somewhere else.
We are proud to provide gum removal as one of our commercial pressure washing services in Port St Lucie FL. Find information about our methods below:
The best methods of removing gum from concrete depends on the gum’s age and level of penetration into the concrete surface. If the gum was left recently and it has not penetrated the surface yet, we might be able to remove it by covering it with ice until the gum freezes, then scraping the gum off with a metal putty knife.
The ice forces the gum to freeze into a workable consistency compared to a warm and sticky glob. Once the gum is frozen, we slide a putty knife or scraper under the gum residue. Next we slide the scraper slowly beneath the gum and the whole piece should peel right off of the concrete.
The above method is only possible with gum that is brand new.
When we remove gum that has turned black, or is already smashed deep down into the concrete surface, we use a hot water power washer with the heat turned up to 200 Degrees to melt the chewing gum. For this type of gum removal, we will not use high pressure because that will sometimes ruin the surface of the concrete!
Our crew never uses more pressure than needed to safely clean concrete. These surfaces can be destroyed a lot easier than most people think, especially if they’re only a few years old. Concrete can take up to 100 years to cure. That is why we always use hot water and the least amount of pressure possible for our professional chewing gum removal professional.
To remove gum from sidewalks and other surfaces we use specially designed hot water pressure washing equipment and special soaps that allow us to clean the surface without resulting in any damages.
Using special 200 degree hot water power washers and low pressure equipment, we can safely remove gum and surface dirt all while protecting the surface. Our service will also eliminate bacteria and germs that sometimes found in gum.
